There has been a lot of stink going around about link swapping, whether it is beneficial or not?

I know for a fact it is worth the effort as long as you follow the guidelines and stick to the rules you will accomplish a lot and grow your sites link popularity and traffic.

Things to do:

* Swap links with highly related sites.
* Try to get one way links when possible
(one of the great ways to do this is from writing and submitting articles to article directories)
* Participate in forums and leave your link in the sig(just leave some value with the link:))
* Participate in blogs that are related to your site
(some blogs use the no follow tag on links but it can still get you traffic to your site as long as you post something of value and not just (like your blog dude - visit my site) this is pure nonsense)
* If you have purchased a product lately and you find it great write the owners a great review or testimony and add your link to the sig.

There is all kinds of ways to get links, think out of the box and see if you can find more great ways to build your link popularity..

Things not to do:

* Do not link to link farms
* Do not use software that will spam the blogs and forums
* Do not try to hide your partners links with the no follow tag
* Do not link to banned sites

If you follow these simple rules you will do great in building your link popularity and traffic..
